Vitagel Surgical Hemostat is the only product of it's kind to
combine MICROFIBRILLAR COLLAGEN with THROMBRIN, FIBRINOGEN, and PLATELETS. By utilizing the patient's own
blood, this combination produces a safe and effective hemostat by forming a three-dimensional scaffold
of collagen and fibrin enhances with activated platelets
The Vitagel formulation contains four essential components for effective hemostasis,
none of which are human derived. This composition eliminates the risk of viral
transmission associated with other products that contain pooled human donor components.
Vitagel works by combining a thrombin/collagen suspension with the patient's own plasma to form a fibrin/collagen clot.
Vitagel microfibrillar collagen and thrombin are each potent platelet activators. The thrombin
also reacts with the patient's plasma to initiate the conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin. This
fibrin network combines with the collagen and activated platelets to create a biologically
active three-dimensional matrix.
